July 22, 2024 — The 10th anniversary of the ACM Learning @ Scale Conference took place at Georgia Tech’s Global Learning Center from July 18-20, 2024. Co-presented by the Georgia Tech College of Computing and Georgia Tech Lifetime Learning, this event brought together researchers, educators, and practitioners to explore advancements in digital and AI-driven education.

Day 1: Keynote and Sessions

On July 18, AI-ALOE’s Associate Director for Research, Dr. Chris Dede, delivered a thought-provoking keynote on “Designing a Model for Massive Digital Lifelong Learning,” setting the tone for a conference rich with innovative ideas and discussions. The day included sessions on generative AI, programming education, and strategies for scaling learning content to meet diverse educational needs.

Day 2: Paper Presentations and Collaborations

The conference continued with a robust lineup of paper presentations and collaborative discussions. Topics ranged from the latest in AI-driven educational tools to effective methods for engaging learners at scale. A highlight of the day was the joint reception with the Educational Data Mining community, fostering cross-disciplinary networking and collaboration. Several of AI-ALOE researchers presented their projects including Karan Taneja, Tommaso Caló, Sibley Lyndgaard, and Utkarsh Nattamai Subramanian Rajkumar.

Day 3: Workshops and Celebrations

Workshops on July 20 offered hands-on experiences in learnersourcing, AI-driven content creation, and A/B testing methodologies, providing attendees with practical skills to apply in their own educational contexts. The conference concluded with a celebratory event at The Historic Academy of Medicine, where participants reflected on the milestones achieved and the future of learning at scale.
